In this status report we are going to talk about additions to the last developer update. Mentioned changes will be included with ChilloutVR 2020r150.

We are addressing topics like eyetracking, lipsync, the upcoming quick menu and more. We are also talking about the upcoming creator contest.

We will have our developers speaking about upcoming additions as well as the estimated DOA (Day Of Arrival) for the r150 update.

This status report is an addition to the first developer update we have posted some time ago. If you did not read that one already, please do so:

Community Update — Creator Contest

As a part of our partnership with Antlion Audio, we have planned a creator contest for ChilloutVR. The contest will work as follows:

Avatars:

You can submit your avatar to be listed in the featured public list. Your avatar will be available to be picked by everyone ingame without restrictions. Your avatar has to be made from scratch or significantly changed.

Worlds:

You can submit your world to be in the world spotlight. Your world will be featured for at least 4 weeks after the winners have been picked. Your world must have a unique look and can not be a pre-made world from any asset store.

When does it start:

The contest begins on April 5, 2020 and will run until May 5, 2020.
The winners will be announced on May 10, 2020.

How to participate:

To participate, you will be able to add your content to the event category as soon as the event launches. Content can also be added to it during the event. This can only be done by the uploader and is done through our community hub. Submissions can not be taken back. After submitting your avatar or world for the contest you will get a confirmation to your email address.

Who votes for the possible winners:

You all, the community, will vote for their personal favourite for each category. You can only vote once for each category.

What can i win:

The first place of each content will receive a Antlion ModMic Wireless and a ChilloutVR unlocked account for free. Second and third place in each category will receive a 20$ Steam card and a free unlocked account. All other participants will be eligble to receive a free unlocked account based on the content quality. Submissions that are obviously a troll will be removed and can not win.

Developer Update — NicoKuroKusagi

As of now we have made big progress working on the release of r150.
A preview changelog can be found here:

With the start of above mentioned creator contest, we will also release the CCK 1.17 adding some features many of you have been requesting for a longer time now.
For example: GI Material updater, Chairs, Video stream and Video stream sync, World links and avatar pickup points.

With ChilloutVR 2020r150 and CCK 1.17 we will be adding local content testing. This will enable creators to test worlds locally before uploading. Avatars will follow for this system as well in a later update.

The update will implement ingame friends management (adding, deleting, accepting, denying, invites and invite). Blocking will come at a later date.

ChilloutVR 2020r150 will also feature minor performance improvements regarding thread management and render delays.

With r150 we will be adding a quick menu making unmuting quicker and adding toggle slots for desktop and vr as well as adding emotes in vr which were already usable using the shift + 1–8 binds in desktop mode.

The following picture shows the design sketch for the quick menu that will be added with it:

We are also internally working on the cameras which will be previewed on twitter and discord in the upcoming days. Stay tuned!

Developer Update — Khodrin

Some very important additions we have already made for r150 are our eye tracking and viseme lipsync solutions. From r150 local and networked lipsync and eye tracking will be available to all players.

We are also further working on improvements to VRIK and the full body tracking we are using in ChilloutVR. One of the problems we were facing, mostly regarding hand rotations should now also be slain.

We are awaiting further feedback on the reported issues regarding hand rotations being wrongly offset, VRIK behaving bad and full body tracking not calibrating properly.

We have also slain multiple calibration issues regarding hand calibration and avatar setup causing some avatars to be A-posed or fingers not being tracked properly. This happened in various cases, mostly because of objects added to the wrist of an avatar.

Developer Meetup, April 2020

After the update has launched, we will be hosting a developer meetup where all community members can join and ask questions and talk to us about everything. We will be listening and answering all of your questions and concerns and make sure that we can achieve the best social vr environment ever made. Together.

Conclusion

The 2020r150 update is considered a game changing update. It will add most of the required and requested core game features for all players. It is the biggest update yet and requires a lot of love and fine tuning.

The estimated DOA for release of r150 is currently April 10, 2020. This can vary by 2–3 days if quality standards are not met.
